THE CHOSEN, by Thea Harrison

In her visions, Lily sees two men fighting for her tiny country’s allegiance: the wolf and the tiger, each deadly, each cunning. One will bring Ys chaos and death, one a gentler path—but she’s destined to love whichever she chooses. The midwinter Masque is upon them, and the wolf is at her door…

My Thoughts
Thea Harrison brings us a new story set in another part of the Elder Races world. War is on the brink between one land and another and Lily’s people have refused to take sides in it. But when they get uninvited visitors from a far off land offering gifts to the Chosen, suspicions rise and all may not be as it seems.

What an exciting story! It was a slow starting in order to lay some groundwork but then quickly took off as actions ensue and a certain warrior Wulf with his ruggedly handsome charm begins an unusual flirtation with Lily.

The story building was excellent and the characters were flexible and easily relatable. I really enjoyed reading it! I can only ding one thing about THE CHOSEN in that it wasn’t long enough! I would have loved for an expanded version of this story with more about the wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing Varian, who sits on the neighboring throne next to Lily’s land. He’s only referred to but we never get to see him or how much of a big jerk he really is. I would have loved for everyone’s story to get explored further.

I really hope Ms. Harrison has more books planned for this story arc! I have GOT to know what happens next! THE CHOSEN has action, excitement, mystery and a unique romance that will satisfy any reader! I haven’t read the other books in the anthology this novella is featured in, but I’m sure they are equally amazing!

I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own.
