She’s the obsession two men share: one wants her love, the other wants her life.

A shared passion for justice first brought Baton Rouge district attorney Lauren Chandler and US marshal Anthony Ross together—when each played their part in bringing down the infamous Bayou Butcher. The sparks flying between the two made it clear they weren’t just a legal dream team. Then desire had to make way for duty, and what they had was done. But it would never be over.

Five years later, it’s none other than the Butcher who gets things started again, when his shocking jailbreak reunites the lawyer and the lawman…and reignites their love. But this time, the pair is in danger of being permanently parted—by a killer with revenge on his mind, and Lauren on the top of his list. As a new wave of terror sweeps through the streets and swamps of Baton Rouge, one man will pit his boundless passion against another’s relentless hate, for the life of the woman who obsesses them both.

Elizabeth's Thoughts
The Bayou Butcher breaks out of prison five years after he was sentenced. His motive, revenge on all those who put him away. Investigators, jurors, judges, girlfriends, the DA; no one is safe. As The Butcher wreaks havoc on the city, a huge revelation is made; he has an accomplice.

Can U.S. Marshal Anthony Ross find out who’s helping this sadistic criminal, or will he be too late to solve the mystery and save the life of the DA, Lauren Chandler. The DA who not only is the primary target of this madman’s revenge, but also the lover Anthony left behind years before, but desperately wants back in his life.

The mystery was very exciting. As always with Cynthia Eden suspense stories, I had to fight myself from skipping ahead to find out what was happening and who the accomplice was. I couldn't stop reading until I found out. The plot was brilliant and when I thought I had figured out who the accomplice was,
I was wrong, twice!

There wasn't anything about the book that I didn't love. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves a good suspense novel! Another 5-Star read for Cynthia Eden!

I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own.
