Review: One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide…

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever…and Bones won’t let her get away again.

**************** spoiler alert ****************

I don't know about you but I was totally pissed that Cat left Bones at the end of the first book. Cat felt she was protecting Bones by leaving. Now she is kicking ass for the government while leading a team of men who keep the paranormal population in line.

The book takes place four years after Cat left Bones and sold her soul to the U.S. government. While she loves what she does, she just can't get Bones out of her head, and her heart. She even tries dating a veterinarian, which was pitiful to watch. I mean Cat had more balls than this guy.

Bones and Cat reunite at a wedding for both of their human friends. While she has missed him terribly, she forces herself to tell him to get lost, for his own safety. Bones isn't going anywhere and he could give a rat's ass about some piddly human Special Forces team trying to kill him.

Bones has never stopped searching for Cat and as they spend more time together, Cat realizes how much she loved and missed him and refuses to give him up a second time. Their passion is off the charts in this book. Please pay particular attention to Chapter 32. If you are a fan of the series, you know exactly what I'm talkin' about!

The secondary characters are equally awesome. We are introduced to the captains of Cat's team: Tate, Juan, Dave and Cooper. We also get to meet the vampire who sired Bones as well as his grandsire, a powerful Egyptian vampire. There is also a former lover of Bones' that tries to win his attentions. She is a total bitch but not to worry, Bones only has eyes for Cat.

This book is so exciting! So many things happen and it's hard to keep my lips shut but I'm afraid I've already revealed too much! Read the book! You'll love it!
