Review: One Little Thing by Kimberly Lang

The USA Today bestselling author of Something to Prove presents a charming novella set in the small Alabama waterfront town of Magnolia Beach, where new love is challenged by long-buried secrets...

Even though her family moved away in disgrace after her father’s affair, Sophie Cooper knows that her childhood home in Magnolia Beach is the right place to open her bed and breakfast on the water—especially if it means she can watch the handsome local walk his dog on the beach every morning...

Quinn Haslett’s greatest regret has always been exposing the affair between Sophie Cooper’s father and their high school physics teacher—not that she ever knew who spilled the beans. When he sees Sophie again, the guilt comes rushing back, but it doesn’t stop him from wanting to see if the sparks flying between them could lead to something more.

But with a such a big secret lying in wait, it’s only a matter of time before their newly ignited relationship goes up in smoke...

I am completely charmed by the people of Magnolia Beach, Alabama.

ONE LITTLE THING is a way-to-short story about Sophie—who has returned home to start a new business—and Quinn—who was a shy, awkward teenager that had a crush on Sophie and carries a deep, dark secret from her past.

Sophie has been a secret voyeur of a hunky man and his dog as they run daily on the beach behind her new bed & breakfast. Sophie is recently divorced, starting a business and has no time for love, which is what keeps her from going down to the beach and introducing herself.

Quinn can’t believe Sophie is back in town. He knows she’s been watching him from her second story balcony and has been soaking up her gaze every time he and his dog Scoop are nearby. Quinn has changed a lot since high school and has grown into a tall, strong and confident man. He’d love the chance to meet and talk with Sophie again but there’s a reason he’s been dragging his feet. Quinn holds a terrible secret that drastically changed the course of Sophie’s family and drove them all away from Magnolia Beach.

When Quinn and Sophie do meet again, Sophie can hardly believe her eyes. The shy kid she’d known in high school is the beach hunk she’s been googly-eyeing these past weeks. Sparks fly fast and the couple soon start dating. Will Quinn’s secret stay hidden or be revealed and destroy the fragile relationship that’s barely begun?

I really enjoyed the story and I loved Quinn and Sophie. Both characters are likeable and easily relatable. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and I’m looking forward to seeing them again in future books. I thought the storyline was interesting and heartfelt and I was quickly drawn in.

ONE LITTLE THING is wonderful installment to the series and I can’t wait for the next read!

I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own.
